Monel/CS/304/304L/316/316L/321/347 Outer Ring Graphite Filler Spiral Wound Gasket For Industry
Monel/CS/304/304L/316/316L/321/347 Outer Ring Graphite Filler Spiral Wound Gasket is widely used in piping systems for high-pressure and high-temperature applications. These gaskets consist of a metal winding and filler material. The metal winding is typically made of stainless steel or other alloys, while the filler material can be graphite, PTFE, mica, or other materials. In this article, we will discuss the use of spiral wound gaskets made of Monel, carbon steel, 304/304L, 316/316L, 321, and 347, and filled with graphite, PTFE, or mica.
Monel is a nickel-copper alloy that is highly resistant to corrosion and can withstand high temperatures and pressures. Monel spiral wound gaskets are commonly used in marine applications, as well as in chemical processing plants and oil and gas refineries. The gaskets can be filled with graphite or PTFE, which provide additional sealing properties.
Carbon steel spiral wound gaskets are commonly used in low-pressure and low-temperature applications. These gaskets are typically filled with graphite, which provides excellent sealing properties at low temperatures.
304/304L and 316/316L stainless steel spiral wound gaskets are commonly used in food processing, pharmaceutical, and biotech industries. The gaskets can be filled with PTFE, which is a non-reactive material that does not contaminate the process fluid. The gaskets can also be filled with graphite, which provides excellent sealing properties at high temperatures.
321 and 347 stainless steel spiral wound gaskets are commonly used in high-temperature applications where the process fluid contains high levels of sulfur or other corrosive materials. The gaskets are typically filled with graphite or mica, which provide excellent sealing properties and resistance to corrosion.
Graphite-filled spiral wound gaskets are commonly used in high-temperature and high-pressure applications. Graphite is a naturally occurring mineral that is highly resistant to corrosion and can withstand high temperatures and pressures. Graphite-filled gaskets can be used in a wide range of applications, including chemical processing plants, power generation facilities, and oil and gas refineries.
PTFE-filled spiral wound gaskets are commonly used in applications where the process fluid is highly corrosive or reactive. PTFE is a non-reactive material that does not contaminate the process fluid, making it ideal for use in food processing, pharmaceutical, and biotech industries.
Mica-filled spiral wound gaskets are commonly used in high-temperature applications where the process fluid contains high levels of sulfur or other corrosive materials. Mica is a naturally occurring mineral that is highly resistant to corrosion and can withstand high temperatures and pressures.
In conclusion, spiral wound gaskets are a versatile sealing solution that can be used in a wide range of high-pressure and high-temperature applications. The choice of materials and filler materials depends on the specific application requirements. Monel, carbon steel, 304/304L, 316/316L, 321, and 347 are all common materials used in spiral wound gaskets, and graphite, PTFE, and mica are common filler materials. Proper selection and installation of the gaskets are critical to ensuring the safety and reliability of the piping system.
Basic Type
Basic construction type, inner and outer diameters are reinforced with several piles of metal without filler to give greater stability and better compression characteristics. - Suitable for tongue and groove, male and female or grooved to flat face flange assemblies.
Inner Ring Type
Solid inner metal ring acts as a compression stopper. To prevent accumulation of solids, reduce turbulent flow of process fluids and minimize erosion, damages of gasket between flange bore and the inside diameter, the annular space is filled up by solid inner metal ring. - Suitable for male and female pipe flanges.
Outer Ring Type
Solid outer ring accurately locates the gasket on the flange face to give the additional radial strength to prevent the gasket blowout and acts as a compression limiter. In case of installing the outer ring, it is very easy to install the gasket to flange face because the end of outer ring will touch at bolts - Suitable for use with flat face and raised face flanges. For class 900 and above an internal ring is recommended.
Inner & Outer Rings Type
A inner ring and outer ring type gasket will give an additional compression limiting stopper for gasket inner and outer side. It will prevent the corrosions on flange face at annular space. - Suitable for use with flat face and raised face flanges and specified for high pressure / temperature service - Class 900 and above or where corrosive or toxic media are present.
Typical Applications
Pipe, valve, pump, thermal exchange, condensing tower, plain hole and man hole of flange, etc. Petrochemical, chemical, mechanical manufacturer, power station, metallurgy, shipbuilding, medical and pharmaceutical unclear power station and navigation, etc.
