The A193 B7 stud bolt is an essential component in many industrial applications. This bolt features threading on both ends, making it suitable for secure fastening to either a fixed part at one end, or to a nut at the other. In the petroleum or chemical industry, they are used extensively for flange connection. A common configuration involves the use of stud bolts with two nuts on either side to replace traditional bolt and nut assemblies.
As you are no doubt aware, stud bolts are available in a variety of categories. The type used for flange connection is known as a flange stud bolt, and it has fully threaded, chambered ends. The theoretical length is measured from the thread. The continuous threaded stud bolt is very similar, except that it does not have chambered ends.
Stud Bolt Materials
The most common materials for stud bolts (for flanges) are ASTM A193 (grade B7, B8, B8M, B8T), ASTM A453 (grade 660), ASTM A320 (grade L7, L7M), and ASTM A182 (duplex and super duplex bolting). For aggressive fluids and environments, stud bolts can be coated with Xylan/PTFE, Zinc and other materials.
